We signed up with Green Geeks about two weeks ago because of their carbon offset programs. Three days ago, their server crashed and our website AND email has been down for 72+ hours. Their service is completely unacceptable. They keep issuing updates saying “restored in 3 hours”, “restored in 5 hours”, and on and on. Our email and website is STILL down. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU NEED RELIABLE SERVICE!!! This has cost our company so much money and trouble. Complete mistake choosing Green Geeks.
Our experience mirrors that of “Completely Unsatisfied” above. Servers are still down. This is a joke. I’m beginning to wonder if all the positive reviews out there aren’t bogus. I’m going to take a close look at the writing style.
I have to say that I am very, very satisfied with GreenGeeks. I was also affected by the outage that the above two are talking about. The level of communication and updates that were given and also the compensation that was received was more than enough. I have been with several other web hosting companies who have had extended downtimes with catostrophic failures, such as data loss, but GreenGeeks was able to revive our data from the dead with backups that they take nightly.
They had a long outage, but they got us back, communicated with us and compensated us. They also told us what they were going to do in the future to prevent such a extended period of downtime. That in my books is A+. I have seen what this company does in crisis mode and compared to other well known providers they did an awesome job.
I signed up with Green Geeks months back, I loved their services so much that I decided to host my clients site with them too (I’m a website designer). I then found out that they offer reseller hosting which just blew my mind! My business can now offer web hosting as an additional service and as far as my customers know they’re hosted with me! The profit potential is great, not to mention I am reselling one of the best hosts around… GreenGeeks all the way!
Having survived multiple short-term outages and the three-day outage noted by the above reviewers, I find myself ONCE AGAIN having trouble accessing my website. Green Geeks has been nothing but one big headache.
I have become convinced that the many positive online reviews for Green Geeks were written by paid shills. The fact that someone posted a positive review on August 4–just days after the multiple-day outage fiasco–is a total tip-off.

Greengeeks is an exceptional web host. I’ve been hosting my site with them for just over 4 months and everything from sign up to installing my Wordpress blog was easy to do. I was looking for green providers, and Greengeeks goes beyond what the others offer. If you’re looking for a quality provider, I strongly suggest Greengeeks.
GreenGeeks is the best hosting provider that I have had in a very long time. I’m always able to get someone to help me with my problems and it’s taken care of quickly and efficiently. If you’re in the market for a great web host, you have to try GreenGeeks. The best part is, you’re helping the environment at the same time!
I signed up with Green Geeks this week. Their Website says that they will transfer 30 domains free, yet they wanted to charge me $24.95 to transfer each of mine and those of my existing clients. I thought Ok, a bit high, but I’ll pay for my clients’ sites and take the hit on the Webmaster fees they pay me and since my existing Website would not be compatible with the new service and I would need to build a new one I was going to register a new domain. Then I learn that Green Geeks charges $24.95 per year for domain registration and renewal, totally unacceptable I cannot and will not sell those prices. Needless to say I have canceled and want my money back under their 30 guarantee, I will report here if I do not get the refund. Though I am having issues with my current host GREEN GEEKS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE based on hidden charges and overpricing.
I have been a reseller with GreenGeeks for about 6 months now. I switched from Hostgator. They moved all my accounts from there for free and the process was effortless. Reading the above review from Gene, I think you have mistaken the cost of domain registration and the hosting account migration service. They don’t sell domains and recommend that you get your own registrar for this. Doesn’t look like their fault to me.

This is the worst service I have ever feet. They come with excuses if they never have errors. Although their server often makes down often. They write to you as an amateur. They generally have little knowledge of what they sell. Stay away if you do not want the world’s worst service, and lots of errors. THEY CHEAT YOU, AND PLAY ALWAYS STUPID!
I do NOT like to write negative reviews and have failed to do so about some companies in the past.
However, my experience with this company (in just 11 days) has been horrible. I am currently in the process of trying to get my UNCONDITIONAL money back guarantee and their rude, resistant responses are bordering on harassing. I had a domain that I needed transferred, and I initiated the process, completed their requested forms, and received 4 emails from them.
Aside from that, I could not use either my domain name, nor the temporary site they had given me. They escalated my complaint to 4 levels of technicians and kept telling me their was no problem. Finally they told me that it was because I didn’t bother to transfer my domain, which they “had told me to do from the beginning”. At this point, they started to be rude to me in all communications. I decided it wasn’t worth it since they couldn’t figure out that they were supposed to be transferring my domain already, but that they were now blaming me for not initiating the process, even though I had email proof from them.
When I tried to cancel, they kept and are continue to send me rude emails saying I need to do what I’m supposed to make the service work. But I no longer want to. I want to cancel and end the unpleasantness.
I’ll be happy to delete this negative review, even though I have lost countless hours, if they simply refund my money, as their policy states.
I absolutely love this hosting company. When I called around for a hosting provider, these were the first guys to pick up within a few seconds! The quality answers that I received was very detailed unlike some of the other “yes we have”, “no we don’t” short answers! Since signing up I have had a very positive experience with their tech people too! I accidentally overwrote the files on my site, I called them and they reverted back to the backups they had! Saved my butt! They are affordable, friendly, and a pleasure to have as a hosting company! Definitely recommended!
Destroyer of business! Nothing but problems! Horrible support. Aside from the dns server crash and repeatedly blacklisting my access isp so I can even view my own site, spamblock after spamblock destroying my business!
Wors yet, complain or ask to speak with the owner and they will lable you as “hostile” and shut down your site on the spot without even giving you a chance to move! Worst mistake of my business career. Stay away! The only green these people are into is your money!
Signed up with Greengeeks, and was pleasantly surprised by the professional attitude of the staff, and my CPanel and site were responsive and well-stocked with features. Love my experience at Greengeeks so far! A+
